We’ve borrowed some really creative Leprechaun Traps usually designated for kids and decided to call them Leprechaun Traps for Seniors.
The steps for any Leprechaun Trap are pretty simple, really. You need to build a trap that can hold the leprechaun after capture, so a box is pretty standard, and you also need bait. Leprechauns love gold coins, so that’s always a good. Don’t forget to disguise it all so it doesn’t look like an actual trap either.
There’s probably more fun in decorating the traps than actually catching a Leprechaun though. What have you ever really done with the Leprechauns you’ve caught before?

Green Gift Box Leprechaun Trap
This is a pretty simple leprechaun trap using a gift box either painted green or wrapped in green paper and then decorated just a bit. The trap is a hole in the top of the box and some ‘moss’ covering the hole where pots of gold will lure the Leprechaun. The Rainbow ladder is the way up to the roof and made with colored popsicle sticks.
Simple and cute. See it here at mayabear.
Colorful Leprechaun Trap
Here at momjunky.com is a Leprechaun trap that uses all the colors in the rainbow. Along with popsicle sticks, tape, plants, flowers, glue, lollipops, glass bottles and some lucky charms, she’s crafted a trap to grab the little green fella.
Rooftop Garden Leprechaun Trap
Along with the usual box, construction paper and popsicle sticks, this leprechaun trap also uses fruit cups, string and a toothpick. You can find it here at funmoneymom.com.
Super Simple Leprechaun Trap
There’s only 6 easy steps to construct this little Leprechaun trap from SheKnows with a cardboard box, construction paper, tape, glue, pot of gold, cotton balls and some items for embellishments including garland.
Leprechaun Hat Trap
Here’s another idea for a trap using pipe cleaners, Lucky Charms and even a small Leprechaun Hat as the trap. If you can’t find one of these in a dollar store you could probably make one easily enough using an empty container of some sort and adding paper or paint and a brim to make it look more like a hat. Check out all the instructions and description here.
Martha Stewart Leprechaun Trap
OK, maybe this trap is a little more sophisticated and requires a little more prep, but hey, it’s worth sharing! A very pretty Leprechaun trap for the Martha Stewart magazine.
Enjoy making these Leprechaun traps for Seniors and please share your own that you’ve made! We want to see them.
